From 12 October to 2 November 2026, dancer and choreographer Arnoud Samba is Artist in Residence at the THEATER DER KLÄNGE rehearsal studio in Düsseldorf-Pempelfort (Winkelsfelder Str. 21). There, Samba develops his new choreographic project “INTERFACE – between two worlds”, which brings dance, memory and digital media together on stage and asks where physical presence meets artificial intelligence.
Arnoud Samba directs Compagnie Noura, based in Châteauroux, France, and its sister ensemble Compagnie Noura2 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. He is also artistic director of the Nour’Africa festival and of the Rencontres Chorégraphiques Culturelles de Châteauroux. His choreographic work moves between continents, in dialogue between African and European dance traditions.
During the residency, Samba rehearses at the THEATER DER KLÄNGE studio; for the choreographic work on “INTERFACE” he works daily with our choreographer Jacqueline Fischer, while for the musical dimension he draws on the advice of Jörg U. Lensing. Following the residency, the piece is to be presented at venues such as FFT Düsseldorf, tanzhaus nrw and the Institut Français Düsseldorf – with the aim of continuing the collaboration with Düsseldorf beyond the current residency.
