Our 2022 activities on the project “Understanding Contemporary Art”, funded by the City of Düsseldorf, resulted in a total of six workshops held in our rehearsal studio between October 2022 and February 2023.
The two 2022 workshops by choreographer Pedro Pauwels and theatre musician Jean-Jacques Lemetre were documented on video by a Dortmund student team, as were the February workshops in 2023 by THEATER DER KLÄNGE on the topics of “Bauhaus Ballets” and “Cultural Heritage”. As part of a film seminar at the Dortmund University of applied sciences and arts, the artist documentary films “Pedro Pauwels – I am what is called a radical dancer” and “Sun-Dog – The theatre musician Jean-Jacques Lemetre” were created from this footage. The two documentary films “Theater der Klänge Bauhaus Stage” and “Palimpsest – Dance and Music Heritage” were made from recordings of individual workshop days of the TdK-February-workshops.
All four films, each between 25 and 45 minutes in length, are to be premiered in one of Düsseldorf’s art house cinemas on 4 and 11 October 2023.
